On Monday, Jan. 11 the University of Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Clemson Tigers in the 2nd annual College Football Playoff Championship. To qualify for the finale, the University of Alabama shutout Michigan State with a dominant performance in the Cotton Bowl, and Clemson defeated the University of Oklahoma with a monstrous second half in the Orange Bowl. Now the question stands….who will win the National Championship?
As analysts around the nation compare past meetings and discuss each team’s strengths and weaknesses, we at Nationwide have found a much more unique way of predicting the winner. We searched our data base of more than 550,000 insured pets to forecast a college football champion through pet name popularity. Below are the results:
According to “Paw”pular opinion, Alabama will emerge victorious. Clemson’s current NFL star “Sammy” Watkins put up a big number amongst pet lovers, but it was no match for the stardom of Alabama’s current NFL star Amari “Cooper” and starting Quarterback “Jake” Coker.
Last year, Nationwide’s pet names correctly predicted Ohio States “underdog” win over Oregon, and that wasn’t our only successful prediction. Our pet names also correctly picked last year’s Patriots’ Super Bowl championship and Duke’s NCAA Basketball national title.
