As a result of Charlie winning the 2014 VPI Hambone Award, Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital will receive the $10,000 VPI-funded award through the Veterinary Care Foundation to treat pets whose owners could not otherwise afford treatment.
After being crushed by a tractor, Charlie was referenced to the specialists at Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital to treat her life threatening injuries. After arriving at the hospital and being unable to stand, the highly skilled veterinary team performed two major surgeries on Charlie to stabilize her fractured spine and removed her damaged kidney.
After a long road of rehab and recovery, Charlie is back to her normal loving Labrador ways, thanks to the outstanding treatment she received at Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
VPI would like to thank all 12 animal hospitals that treated the 2014 VPI Hambone Award® nominees. All nominees have made full recoveries and received insurance reimbursements for eligible expenses.
